Civics Living Wax Museum @ PGHS

On Monday, March 30, 2026, students in Mr. Martinez’s Civics class at Providence Grove High School brought history to life through an engaging Living Wax Museum project. This interactive experience allowed students to step into the roles of influential figures connected to the Executive Branch, transforming the classroom into a dynamic learning environment.

As part of the project, students selected a U.S. President to research. Those who chose to work in groups expanded their focus by having group members portray the President’s Vice President or First Lady. Through in-depth research, students explored how each administration utilized the powers of the executive branch during their time in office, while also highlighting the often “unsung heroes” who supported the President.

Students created biographical reports and wrote 1–2 minute monologue scripts from a first-person perspective, capturing the voice, responsibilities, and impact of their chosen figure.

Dressed in costume and using simple props or displays, students became “living statues,” remaining still until a visitor activated them. Once “brought to life,” each student delivered their monologue, offering an informative and engaging glimpse into the inner workings of the Executive Branch.

Community members were invited to attend the event, observe the presentations, and provide thoughtful feedback, helping to make the experience even more meaningful for students.

The Living Wax Museum not only strengthened students’ research and presentation skills but also provided a memorable, hands-on way to explore the Executive Branch and the individuals who have shaped each presidential administration.
